Still relatively unknown, St. Lucia is one of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. It has twin coastal peaks, the Pitons, which rise up 2,000 feet from the sea, sheltering glorious rain forests where wild orchids, gigantic ferns, and birds of paradise flourish. The rainforest is broken only by fertile fields and orchards of banana, coconut, mango, and papaya trees. The snorkeling, scuba diving, golf, tennis, sailing, hiking, and bird watching are great but you shouldn't miss St. Lucia's Soufriere volcano, the world's only drive-in volcanic crater.
