Lihue is the government and business center as well as the main place of transportation.on the island of Kauai. Here you can discover the Kauai Museum and tour extensive exhibits of tapa, early Hawaiian artistry, and memorabilia from the sugar plantation era. It's also a great spot for recreation. The white sands and calm waters of nearby Kalapaki Beach are a great spot for swimming, sailing, or getting some sun. Also nearby is Kauai Lagoons, which hosts two Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf courses and forty acres of freshwater tropical lagoons that serve as a sanctuary for exotic wildlife.
