Eleuthera
![]() Eleuthera is an island of pristine charm with miles of shimmering pink and white sand beaches, peaceful colonial villages, and continuing acres of pineapple plantations. The laid back and sometimes almost sleepy air of the island gives a feel of freedom which accounts for the name. Eleuthera is Greek for freedom. It has some incredible sights such as the enormous caves where the pilgrims used to go for shelter to perform religious ceremonies and the Glass Window Bridge, which goes across a space between the tumultuous waters of the Atlantic come together with the calmer seas of the Exuma Sound on the island's leeward side. The Glass Window Bridge replaces a natural one which was blown down by a hurricane. Don't forget that Eleuthera also has all of the usual water sports of any island.
